The Application Process

The first step in your application process is to determine which program and area of interest best suits you. Please visit the department and concentration links below for a starting point. Graduate study at The Henry Samueli School of Engineering is fueled by faculty research. It is research and faculty members' scholarly interests that will influence your graduate career.

Once you determine which program best suits your academic and professional background, please peruse the faculty links and study their various research agendas and referred publications. A significant amount of your graduate school experience may be spent conducting research and serving as a teaching assistant or graduate student researcher. Therefore, it is best to determine if your future research aspirations and professional goals can be supported by our faculty.  It is also crucial for faculty to select students who can contribute to their research agendas. Your intended program of study, research interests, and professional aspirations should then drive your application process; there should be evidence of these two items in your statement of purpose. If possible, your letters of recommendation should also include proof of your background and interest in your area of engineering.
