The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a Project Scientist in the general areas of creep deformation and transmission electron microscopy of ceramics. A Project Scientist is expected to make significant and creative contributions to a research project. This project is funded by a four year grant from the National Science Foundation. The initial appointment will be for a 12 month period. The appointment will start at 14% time at an annual salary range of $83,300 (based on 100% appointment). The specific salary will depend on the level of experience. Renewal of the contract and increased funding will be contingent upon the availability of adequate funding and performance. A strong background in ceramics, transmission electron microscopy, creep deformation, and grant writing is required. The position requires a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, or a related field, and a minimum of 10 years of research experience. Good communication and writing skills are required.
