Doing research as an undergraduate can open many doors. Whether you are thinking about going immediately into a graduate program or applying for a job in industry, the skills you develop in a research lab can boost your academic credentials. UCI is set apart from other research universities not just by our commitment to undergraduate research but also by the wealth of opportunities available to undergraduate students.
CODE is committed to assisting students find and fund research through the Holmes-CODE Summer Research Program. The Holmes-CODE Summer Research Program gives undergraduate students an opportunity to perform research with key engineering faculty. Students are asked to submit an abstract and final paper as well as a poster of their activities. They may then apply for funding to attend major conferences where they can present their findings. Funding for this program comes from a gift to CODE by the Holmes Family Endowment.
In addition to the Holmes-CODE Summer Research Program, UCI also has
- The California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP) Summer Scholars Program;
- The campuswide Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP); and
- UC Leadership Excellence through Advanced Degrees (UC LEADS); all leading to our
- Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) which encourages students to become university faculty members.
