Ph.D, Professor, Ph.D Supervisor, tenured professor at Carleton University in Canada , born in Wuhan in April, 1962
He has first been appointed as adjunct professor of the State Key Laboratory of Software Engineering ( Wuhan University ) in 2001. Since 2005, he has been a professor at Wuhan University .

Backgrounds:
He started his research in database systems in 1983 as a graduate student, mainly in distributed database systems, and was in charge of two distributed database systems: WDDBS (Wuhan University distributed database system) (75 plan key topic) and DMU/FO (Northeast university (formerly Northeast University of Technologies) distributed CODASYL database system). In 1988, he went overseas to Canada to study theoretical foundation, implementation and application of deduction database systems. After finishing his Ph.D in 1992, he has been conducting teaching and research in several Canadian universities. His research mainly focuses on database technology, reasoning technology, object-oriented programming, Web technology and intelligent information management systems. He has published 85 articles (39 articles as the sole author), in which many articles published in the top international journal and well-known international conferences. He has also been reviewers of 12 international journals, member of 33 international conference program committees, and member of five international conference organizing committee. Currently, he is conducting research on the theoretical foundation, implementation of unstructured data management system. Wuhan University has provided one million RMB startup grant to support his research. He is 2006 National Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Fund (foreign) candidate.
